Scouts Cardboard Jamboree

No beds. No duvets. Just cardboard, tape, and questionable weather forecasts

On Friday 9 October, 17 Scouts and 3 (slightly nervous) leaders from 1st Parkstone Scouts, me included! are trading our comfy beds for cardboard shelters we’re building ourselves, all in the name of the Dorset Scouts Cardboard Jamboree.

We’ll be designing, building, and testing our architectural genius before bedding down for the night to see exactly what an October night in Dorset throws at us. Rain? Wind? Our own wobbly engineering? Bring it on.

But this isn’t just cardboard chaos for the fun of it (although, let’s be honest, it is a bit of that too). We’re raising money for YMCA Bournemouth, who support people in the local BCP community who don’t have the choice of a warm, safe bed every night. Their work spans housing, counselling, training and wellbeing support, helping people rebuild and get back on their feet.

So while we’re grumbling about a cold night in a box, we’ll be raising funds for people facing that reality for real.  Every £10 you give could help fund a hot meal or a support session for someone using YMCA Bournemouth’s services.

Please help us hit our target and make this cold night count by visiting our JustGiving page
