Date: 4th Dec 2025 Author: Amanda Wise-Hall

In July 2025, 1st Parkstone Scout Group embarked on an exciting adventure to Brownsea Island, the birthplace of Scouting. The trip was a chance for members to walk in the footsteps of Baden-Powell and experience the rich history that shaped the movement over a century ago.

The day began with a scenic ferry ride across Poole Harbour, offering stunning views of the coastline and wildlife. Once on the island, the sections enjoyed a tour of historic landmarks, including the site of the original 1907 camp. Activities ranged from nature trails and wildlife spotting to team challenges, all designed to celebrate the spirit of Scouting and outdoor learning.

Leaders praised the trip as a fantastic opportunity for young people to connect with Scouting heritage while building friendships and skills. This memorable outing reinforced the values of adventure, community, and respect for nature—principles that continue to inspire Scouts worldwide.
